Carronade is a close range weapon that fires a shotgun-like spread of 7 projectiles. With the shortest range out of any red slot item in the game, great burst damage and an extremely fast reload, Carronade goes unmatched in close-combat. It can be further enhanced by talents, which grant it the ability to slow the ship speed and turret agility of enemy ships upon hitting them.
Before the 4.0 update, Carronade received a majority of its talents from Swift.

Strategies[ | ]
The Carronade is best suited on a Speeder, or on other ship loadouts with an emphasis on close range. It can be used aggressively to quickly approach and eliminate targets who are out of position. Alternatively, it can be used to fend off other aggressive enemies.
Double carronade is the ultimate assassin build for hit-and-run Speeder, which deals a humongous amount of damage.
Carronades are sometimes used on high-mark Shooter loadouts where a red slot can be sacrificed for enhanced close-combat capabilities. It is not recommended to try this on MK3 or lower Shooters, where each slot is vital to keeping up a steady stream of mid/long range damage.
Because each of its projectiles' damages are individually lowered by the enemy's defense points, the Carronade is significantly weaker against enemies with lots of defense points. Defenders are generally very resistant to Carronade fire. The best targets are Speeders and Fixers.
As carronades slow enemy turret for quite a significant margin, it is considered heavily overpowered by many players due to its low cooldown high dps and it is a lot more difficult for enemy ships to return fire and focus.
It is proposed to be nerfed or erased because of its ability to shed ships when the unfriend team is disorganized.
Best combat to carronade is a grenade launcher/bc/exc combo, or frost blaster/big torp, or a tesla bolt.
Carronade basically overrides any kind of close range strategy, as it is unmatched by any other weapons.
This should be used as self-defense weapon, especially for Fixers, against enemies who are harassing you at close range, scare 'em away or outright destroy them!
